Happy New Years. I know there a whole bunch of people still in bed, curled up, dehydrated and wishing they didn’t have that last cocktail. I’m so glad that’s not me, I’m feeling light and breezy this morning, fresh and clean, super charged on Jan. 1st 2010. I have had my fair share of hangovers, and I don’t miss that feeling one bit. I can’t say it won’t happen again, but for now, I’m having a clean start for the New Year.
I went for a super long walk this morning, I was energized and happy to be moving. I’m eating salads, fruits, smoothies, and some soups. I’m on vacation so it gets harder to control what I am getting, because restaurants put so much salt and oils in the food. So, last night I ordered a green salad with a whole avocado. It’s amazing how accommodating people will be if you ask for a specific meal. They offered me other vegetables, and I said,” sure whatever you have in the kitchen that looks good”. I was served the most enormous, salad that was as delicious as it was filling. I ordered a side of Hawaiian sweet potatoes that were out of this world; sweet purple roots of heavens earth.
That leaves me with a thought; what are you eating? Are you thinking outside the box? Creating new things to munch on that fulfill, energize and uplift you? No worries, that’s what I’m here for.
Day 5
Make smoothies
Buy or borrow a blender. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but the better the blender the smoother the smoothie.
Make Green smoothies-mixing fresh fruit and fresh vegetables.
Try Popeye’s Passion, it’s a favorite in my house. http://www.dianastobo.com/smoothies/popeyes-passion/
Green smoothies are blended fruits and vegetables, broken down so that the body does not have to work too hard to digest and obtain the nutrients. They give you instant energy !
Wrap it up
Rethink the way you eat. It’s not only about eating salads and fresh fruit- start wrapping your food
Use spelt or sprouted whole grain tortillas to wrap your salad in and eat it on the go. Try my favorite brand: www.foodforlife.com Load it with cooked quinoa, sauces, salad greens for a high protein wrap.
Use romaine lettuce as a shell for your hummus, veggies and avocado, or chard greens for wrapping up an amazing bean burrito with guacamole and fresh salsa.
Think ahead
Plan to go to your Sunday farmers market this week so that you will be able to create the freshest juices and smoothies starting Monday Jan 4.
Find your local farmers market by Zip code at farmersmarket.com/
Buy or borrow a juicer- it’s not an absolute must, but it will make life easier. I saw this one for $99 Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact Extractor – Silver
I’ve never used it, but it got good reviews for the price!
Scout out a local juice bar, most Whole Foods Markets have one : www.wholefoodsmarket.com/, and there are other independent places scattered throughout. Make friends with them, see if they will help you create fresh drinks without added sugars or supplements
I will be making my own juices, but thats because I know how. 10 years ago, I didn’t know how, so I know how foreign this can sound. Hang in there, if you only avoid the meat, dairy, wheat, and sugar from your diet, you are already cleansing. Stay with it and watch the weight and toxins fall off! Have a wonderful Cleansing day!
